Okaloosa Island Loses Highway 98
Every time a hurricane comes through our area, Highway 98 between Okaloosa Island and Destin gets washed out, taking weeks or months to repair. Eventually, the powers that be got smart and built piers under the roadway. So when future storms wash the sand away, the road stays right where it is because it was not resting on the sand beneath.
